Spring is Coming!

by Jeff Titcomb on February 3rd, 2013

It's that time of year again, the Holidays are over and we move into the Cabin Fever portion of Winter, where everyone is struggling to get out of the house and do something, anything, just a break from feeding the fires and vacuuming the cob webs. Valentine's Day is upon us, so get out there and shop local for that something special for your Sweetheart.Indian Valley is only getting better at stocking these Wonderful gift items for that someone special in your life. The specialty cheeses at Young's Market, Fine Wine from Evergreen Market, possibly a Diamond or two from Sterling Sage! Just a few of the many shopping opportunities here in Indian Valley. Please think of your local retailers first when possible.
We know Spring is around the corner as our Annual Crab Crack Dinner and Auction is here on February 9th and we all know that Spring and better weather is right after the Crab feed every year. Some residents are reporting that under that blanket of snow the bulb flowers are starting to pop up! Yeah! February is our wettest month and that looms large, as we have had record water since last November. Lets hope Mother Nature takes it easy on us this year. Spring for me is such a Beautiful time of year that affects all of the senses. It can be cold, then sunny, then change so very quickly and buried in snow! What a wild ride for sure. I look forward to Spring so much because the water is plentiful and our little world is turning Green, in a million shades of Green, the color blast is indescribable in words, but the eyes seem to relish in the variety of color, the flowers, the trees, the rivers, all add to the overall experience. I hope that at sometime you are all able to experience the total conversion from drab Winter to the blooming Spring. It really is a Great time to visit Plumas County and witness the transition. You won't be disappointed. Our lodging providers are Open and waiting for your call, to book that Springtime reservation. Call the IVCC office at 530.284.6633 for additional information on Tourism and Recreation in the Indian Valley. Find Yourself here at this Beautiful time in Our Wonderful mountain valley and witness the conversion for yourself!

Beautiful Jeff Titcomb! Thank you for this.
I've noticed the tracks of cross country skiers up around Round Valley Lake, as well as the tracks of the snowmobiles. Just 3 miles up the road from Greenville, people are recreating around that lake and in the hills in the snow. It's so gorgeous! I hope they are packing a yummy lunch so when they reach the top of the hills and see the spectacular views of the valley, they can sit awhile--take some pictures--and snack on our superior local fare. A romantic way to spend a February day in the mountains ~

Thanks, Jeff! Great shopping ideas! And thanks, Tanya for the word about Round Valley Lake...I know lots of folk are trudging about in snow shoes and enjoying that last bit of snow we got...I heard out by Diamond Mountain they got close to 6-inches compared to our 1/4-inch! So look for snowshoes tracks out there and up Moonlight Creek...
